Understand
Content generation and management process of the site is spread across various locations. Initially there was no integrity, people-orientation or coherence. There was a need for an intelligent and organic system to manage real time and market sensitive news content. It was also needed to distribute content to other portal clients. MoneyControl.com wanted a system that could adapt to their existing processes without re-orientation of the content team. The solution had to be scalable, platform independent and built on open structure architecture. This called for a deep understanding of content structures and types.

After examining several content management systems they selected E Dot solution because it had a framework of components for functional content management

E.CMF was implemented on the hybrid MS/UNIX environment for the site. It made content creation possible in various forms (charts, articles, images, reports), types (psv, text, php, asp, rich-media etc) and formats (displayed in various complicated layouts). It managed a huge repository of content that could handle millions of page views. All the key processes of the company for content generation and management were automated. It introduced a high degree of design flexibility.

The content management processes were made more content team oriented. Moreover, it was non-training intensive and user-friendly and was based on the existing workflow. This enabled a quick acceptance of the system by its users. It provided organic and intelligent content management process that enabled Reviewers and Journalist to generate and publish content quickly without having to use any programming skills.

The Data Gathering module supported two modes of content gathering. An automated content inflow from partner sites or a self initiated content fetching from partner sites. Content thus gathered got populated into the MoneyControl.Com database. MoneyControl.Com journalists were provided with MS Word like interface on the web with features like keyword search, graphing tools etc. to create content, add tables, pictures, customized graphs etc. Editorial component allowed the editorial desk located in New Delhi to review the content gathered from various locations with the primary purpose of content selection. Selected content was then edited for final corrections, changes etc. Eventually, the editorial desk had the ability to then create a Content Queue of edited content.
